Out Of The Past - A Slick Film Noir

Out of the Past is on TCM right this minute. It's a slick, complicated Film Noir, full of sleazy Joes and sleazier dames. Jane Greer, especially, is as cold as a January night in Siberia. Any guy that would get into her icy clutches deserves what he gets; she's too obvious in her evil. But you can't stop watching, to see if she gets her comeuppance.

The sets are draped in silk and shadows, the emotions are dramatic, the hate and the love. The dialogue is as sharp as daggers. Wise guys wearing trench coats abound; seems to be one around every corner.

Mitchum is cool, as usual. Kirk Douglas adds his wired under the calm demeanor. All in all, it's a classic Film Noir. Compelling, dangerous, hard to predict. A real treat on a strangely hot spring afternoon!
