Film Noir Favorites
There is just something so cool about Film Noir - the shadows, the complex characters, the truths about men and women. I love the stories, the planning of the crimes and the drama afterward when those plans go wrong (they always do).
And all of that angst is played out in beautiful black and white (though I have seen a few great color noirs like Leave Her To Heaven). The tough, no-nonsense men wear double-breasted suits with a hat slanted over one eye. The bold, hard-loving women are so stylish in their spectator pumps and slinky dresses with padded shoulders. People were classier then.
If you’d like to sample Film Noir, to see what all the noise is about, here are some of the best, to start with:
Sunset Boulevard
The Asphalt Jungle
Niagara (another gorgeous Color Film Noir)
The Blue Dahlia
The Narrow Margin
Detour
Laura
The Blue Gardenia
If you love films with good action, romance and drama you’ll flip for these, I promise!
